Valrie kemp-davis

is a native of Tampa, Florida who makes her home in East Chicago, Indiana. She is the author of culturally conscious literature that celebrates Children of the Diaspora. She believes in the traditions of the Griot and loves to record history and tell stories in a contemporary, clever, and relevant manner. Believing in the power of education, self-love, and self-knowledge, she has sought to cross the Middle Passage to join hearts and hands for a common purpose of reclamation of history, social justice, honor, love, and unity. She attended Warner University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and attended graduate school at Clark Atlanta University. Her law enforcement career spanned thirty years of employment respectively with the Georgia and Illinois Department of Corrections.

Ms. Kemp-Davis is a Life Member and Silver Star of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. where she served for years for the advancement of education amongst students, economic empowerment, health and wellness, and social and environmental justice, and the advancement of people in her community. She has connected and served for years with those in the community as it relates to voter registration, canvassing, phone banking, and getting into good trouble!

An Author, Storyteller, and Cultural Curator

Valrie has authored various culturally conscious books to edutaine (educate and entertain) Children of The Diaspora. Her books promotes culture,cultural diversity,tolerance,anti-racism,

anti-biasedness, self-love, self-awareness, and inclusion.

An Advocate and Activist

She works diligently to promote unity in her immediate and global community. She advocates for youth who are incarcerated, volunteering her time to bring culture through the arts and love. 

She advocates for those who are victims of human trafficking participating in and spearheading projects to bring awareness, shed light to this issue and to raise funds to support the survivors..

She works feverishly to promote awareness of the need to vote,the ravages of voter suppression and works in the community to support the candidates of her choice while demonstratively using her voice and talents to promote democracy and overall solidarity.

She is a trained volunteer at a women's shelter for battered and homeless women and children. She worked tirelessly to raise funds and awareness in the planning stages for this shelter coming on line.

Global Ambassador and Advocate

She is the Kingdor National Parkinson Foundation International Liaison Officer in the Bahamas bringing awareness about Parkinson and is an advocate for patient and family services and rights. 

She is an active Member of The August Town Peace Builders and The August Town Sports and Community Development Foundation. She works with other stakeholders to financially and emotionally undergird youth while influencing policies and policymakers for restorative justice.

A Mother

She has opened her home to share it with many teenagers and young adults through the years. She is a mother of two young adult daughters, Godmother to many, and known in the community as Momma Val or Momma D. Her passion and love for youth and the young leads her to inspire and help pull purpose out of them.

A Woman of Faith

She serves her community through her love of God and unwavering faith. Whether interceding in prayer, greeting new worshipers or walking through the community to inspire someone with a word of hope, she illuminates as a disruptor to shake up things and to bring love and life.
